Celebration for colombia independence day 2020
Celebrate Colombia’s Independence Day
“Discover Colombia” A virtual performance full of colour and moves. Discover dances, touristic places, and music. All in one show to celebrate Colombia’s Independence Day on Monday July 20th, 2020 at 6:00 pm EST.
This virtual journey will help Héritage Colombien, a non-profit cultural organization
based in Ottawa/Gatineau, promote Colombian culture in Canada.
This project seeks to illustrate the link of the organization with its primary country.
We are also striving to build relationships of cooperation and inclusion with artists and other organizations
and to highlight the importance of supporting and sharing our heritage.

GUEST ARTISTS
Gina Medina
Dancer, actress and choreographer with a wide experience at national and international level, she is the director and founder of one of the most important dance academies in the country "Alma de Tango".
She began her studies at the School of Fine Arts in Medellin, she was trained in different techniques such as classical ballet, jazz dance, contemporary dance, national and international folklore. She also studied at the National Ballet of Cuba, at the Argentine School of Tango, at the Julio Bocca School of Musical Theatre in Buenos Aires and at the Alfredo Gurquel Dance Studio also in Buenos Aires.
She has been choreographer of the most important tango shows in the country such as: Perfume de tango and Arrabal with Fanny Mickey, with whom she toured in 2008 in Colombia and Moscow; Sin Miedo al Tango in 2007; Pa' bailar in 2008; Tango en rojo la fusión in 2009. In the year 2010 she was the winner of the Festival Ritmos y Tradiciones Populares del Mundo with this work with which she performed on different stages in the city of Bogotá.

Ivan Ovalle
Dancer, choreographer, director and producer of performing arts with more than 20 years of experience. He began his training as a dancer in the Ballet Tierra Colombiana. He studied national and international folklore, jazz, ballet, ballroom and later specialized in tango. He has participated in different events, stages and world championships obtaining outstanding places and important recognitions inside and outside the country.
